Official: Russia not to schedule talks on Kuril fishing with Japan
MOSCOW, Jan 30 (PRIME) -- Moscow has informed Tokyo that it could not schedule intergovernmental consultations on the sea resource use in the zone of the Kuril Islands after Japan had imposed anti-Russian measures, a Foreign Ministry representative told PRIME on January 29.
"We categorically refuse to accept any protests of the Japanese side in connection with our decision,” the official said.
”The Japanese neighbors should show respect to our country, the desire to improve bilateral relations to return to normal dialogue. We have seen no such intent from the Japanese government."
Russia and Japan regulate the sea resource use under a 1998 accord, the representative added.
